Headline outcome
Challenge
Scientific equipment manufacturer Evident needed reliable service support across its Asia-Pacific installed base after a corporate separation. Fragmented service requests, field scheduling, warranty data and pricing caused delays; engineers sometimes returned to the office simply to complete administration.
Solution
IBM Consulting co-created a Salesforce Service Cloud and Field Service platform with configure-price-quote integration, standardized workflows and automated scheduling. The deployment unified service inquiries through closure and made field information available in one interface.
Outcomes
IBM reports a 15% reduction in field-service turnaround time, more than 15% higher engineer/team-lead productivity and more than 25% growth in existing customers holding service contracts after the rollout.
Expert Insights
CASEFINDER EXPERT INSIGHTS — independent editorial analysis, not an IBM claim: Hotels, museums and attractions can adapt integrated field service to equipment and guest-room maintenance. Model skill-based dispatch, spare-parts availability, first-time fixes, mean resolution time and customer satisfaction; test attribution of upsell performance to service improvements. Adaptation roadmap: establish the operating baseline and evidence owner, run a bounded implementation with matched pre/post data, document process and system dependencies, and assess skills, change management, data governance, user accessibility, cybersecurity, privacy, economic cost and legal requirements. Distinguish vendor claims, demonstrated outputs, actual business impacts and forecast benefits. Publish outcomes only after editorial review of baseline, measurement method and practical transferability; do not equate technology adoption with independent proof of success.
